Procedure Details

75-year-old Sarasota male patient was referred by local dermatologist for melanoma-in-situ on his forhead. He underwent Mohs excision and presented to Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center to discuss options for closure. Primary closure v. skin graft v. local flap options were discussed, and it was explained to patient that treatment option will be dictated by assessment of tissue laxity during the surgery. Primary closure was achievable with the use of tension sutures centrally that helped facilitate tissue relaxation and creep. The closure and subsequent scar was hidden in an aesthetic location along patient's frontal hairline.
